![]() The Streaking Chicken From Mercury Who Exposed Himself To Everything EP... (Artwork by Binman) Released: July 1989 Ireland |
All tracks written by Niall Quinn. The Hitchers got their first day in a recording studio as a prize after winning a battle of the bands competition in May 1989. They used up their prize on Wednesday the 24th July. What emerged from the recording session was what would become known as 'The Streaking Chicken From Mercury Who Exposed Himself to Everything E.P.' Now I know what your first question is -where the hell did they come up with the artwork? Niall drew it out with three biros. Oh the title? Well they'd planned on recording four songs 'Which Leg of a Chicken is More Tender?', 'The Streakers of Newcastle', 'All This Everything' and 'Mercury' so they harvested a couple of words from each song title to form a composite. Unfortunately they then ran out of studio time and 'Mercury' never got recorded. The session was recorded in Xeric Studios Limerick and was engineered by Pearse Gilmore who, in the second half of the '90's, would work with The Hitchers on their two LP's. |
