It's ironic that, with our last single we once again found ourselves taking a bit of stick as we did with our first back in 1990, for putting out a single that included previously released material. So what's our excuse this time?

Niall Quinn: "I'm not making any excuses. As far as I'm concerned there's nothing to excuse. Liver was written back in 1993 - from day one that we started playing it we'd people saying to us 'you guys should release Liver as a single' and when I say 'people' I'm not talking about DJs or A&R or anybody in the business end of things -they've their own agendas, I'm talking about the folks who reached into their pockets to pay in to see The Hitchers and buy their CDs. So then when we finally made '...Fun & Games...' I personally thought it should have been on it and should've been a single. But it didn't even make it onto the LP. It got buried, unlisted, in track four of the CD version of the 'Strachan'/'You Can Only Love Someone...' single. Despite that there was STILL good feedback about Liver. So  when we did the second LP '...Better TV.' it was decided to put it on as it had more than earned it's proper release.  After '...Better TV.' came out things were thrown into disarray for a few months as we lost our management, then the label folded and - just as we were turning the corner Hoss left. But we'd re-organised and decided we were going to release 'Liver' on our own  so we got on with preparations for it. We fixed up the recording, we'd the video shot and the single mastered when we found out we were going to have to split sooner than expected. So it was shelved. But when the possibility of doing the December 30th show came about 'Liver' was resuscitated as the song we were sure most people who were into The Hitchers  would want as our farewell.

The versions we included of '4:30 ...Two Down' and particularly 'I Can't Breath...'  we think do way better justice to the songs than those on '...Better TV.' Also we'd never released any Live stuff before so we took a couple of well rockin' tunes 'The Urge to Kill' and the more familiar 'You Can Only Love Someone...'  from a bouncin' gig in Dolans Warehouse, Limerick.
